VinaPhone offers incentive data plan for iPad

VN forges business links with Paraguay
HA NOI — Viet Nam's Ambassador to Paraguay Nguyen Van Dao met this week with representatives from the Industrial Union of Paraguay (UIP) to outline the advantages of doing business in Viet Nam.
Dao gave an overview of Viet Nam's different economic sectors, outlined the country's key macroeconomic figures and explained policies to encourage trade and investment.
Dao fielded questions from Paraguayan businesspeople working in a wide range of industries on Viet Nam's policies for imports and exports, its taxes, inflation, and foreign exchange system.
UIP Deputy President Eduardo Felippo said he believed a better understanding of each other's markets would lead to an increase in bilateral trade.
Work begins on paper mill in Phu Tho
PHU THO — The Bai Bang Paper Joint Stock Company held a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday for a paper mill in the northern central province of Phu Tho.
The VND520 billion mill, in the province's Phu Ninh District will produce 50,000 tonnes of top quality newsprint paper annually.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai praised the Bai Bang Company for its investment, which will help ensure paper supplies for domestic newspapers, reduce costs and stabilise the local economy.
The plant will feature an energy efficient production line mamfactured by Japan's Tokywa Group and incorporates Singaporean wastewater treatment technology.
Information technology fair offers big discounts
HCM CITY — Forty five foreign and local IT companies are displaying their products at the second annual Fair of Electronics Communication Information Technology in HCM City.
The four-day event, which will wrap up tomorrow, offers discounts of 20 per cent-60 per cent on electronic and IT devices like laptops; cameras; antivirus, accounting, and Lac Viet dictionary software; and USB flash drives.
It is organised by the HCM City Computers Association and Intel Viet Nam with support from LG, Samsung, Canon, Gygabyte, and Microstar. — VNS
Work begins on new urban area in the capital
HA NOI — Sai Dong Urban Investment and Development Joint Stock Co will break ground on an urban area in the capital's Long Bien District early next year. The 183 ha project, at a total estimated cost of VND2.5 trillion (US$125 million), will include apartments, villas, recreation facilities, schools, and a hospital. The expected completion date is the fourth quarter of 2015.
An Khanh dedicates building complex
HA NOI — An Khanh Urban Development Co Ltd inaugurated its new building complex on Thang Long Boulevard on Thursday.
The 36,000 sq.m complex includes display apartments, offices and conference and VIP rooms. There is also a Splendora Urban Area project centre where customers and investors can follow every stage of the US$3 billion project to build Viet Nam's most modern and environmentally-friendly city.
Hai Phong raises land prices
HAI PHONG — The People's Committee of Hai Phong has announced its real estate prices for central and rural areas in 2011.
Land in the centre of the city will cost from VND400,000-VND40 million per sq.m, an increase of 30 per cent of last year. Costs in rural areas have risen 53 per cent to VND200,000-VND9 million per sq.m. — VNS
Garment maker buys into rival
HA NOI — Thang Loi International Garment Joint Stock Co will offer 156,700 shares to Thang Loi Textile and Garment Co at VND10,000 (US$0.50) per share.
The offering will supplement working capital, the company said. It added that it has a pre-tax profit target of VND6 billion ($293,000) and wants to pay out 15 per cent in dividends.
Habeco holds second share auction
HA NOI — Ha Noi Beer and Beverage Corporation (Habeco) plans to auction 6.9 million shares at the Ha Noi Stock Exchange on December 24.
The company is offering the shares, which represent 3 per cent of the company's charter capital, at VND32,000 (US$1.5) each.
After the auction, the State will hold an 81.8 per cent stake in the company, while Habeco's strategic partner Carlsberg is to retain 15.8 per cent. Employers will hold 0.56 per cent.
This is Habeco's second auction. At the initial public offering in 2008, the company sold 4.3 million of 34.7 million offered shares, at an average price of VND50,015.
In the first half this year, the company revenue was VND2.1 trillion ($100 million) and pretax profit reached VND307 billion ($14.6 million).
Petroleum distributor to hold IPO in HCM City
HCM CITY — Petec Trading and Investment Co will offer 13 million shares in its initial IPO at HCM City Stock Exchange on December 29.
The offer price has been set at VND21,000.
The company has a charter capital of VND2.6 trillion (US$123.8 million) and is the third largest local petroleum distributor, with a market share of 12 per cent.
In the first half this year, Petec revenue was VND7.3 trillion ($347.6 million) and after-tax profit came in at VND89.6 billion ($4.3 million).
PetroVietnam affiliates restructure holdings
HA NOI — PetroVietnam Construction Company (PVX) has sold all of its 1 million shares in PetroVietnam Power Land (PVL).
The construction firm now holds just a 16.5 per cent share in the property developer. PVX now plans to increase its share of PetroVietnam Urban Development from 29 per cent to 36 per cent.
