HA NOI — Bach Dang Shipbuilding Industry Corporation will today hand over a 4,500-cubic-metre ethylene carrier vessel named "King Arthur" to Italian shipowner Mediterranea Di Navigazione.
This is the first in series of four vessels the Vietnamese firm has built for the Italian company.
The carrier is the first of its kind made in Viet Nam. It is 104 metres long, 16.4 metres wide and 8.4 metres deep. It has a draft of 7.2 metres.
The Bach Dang corporation is focusing on completing a range of products for delivery this year, including a 6,500-tonne cargo ship, a 1,700 TEU (20-foot equivalent unit) container ship. It is also building other ships for domestic and foreign buyers.
Developer delivers first homes in project
BINH DUONG — Property firm SetiaBecamex last Saturday handed over to owners the first 251 houses built in its 256-ha EcoLakes My Phuoc project in southern Binh Duong Province.
The completion was two months earlier than scheduled, despite the impact of the recent global financial crisis, according to general director Khoo Teck Chong.
Next year, the company will build a commercial area, including retail space, a supermarket, food court and wedding hall to serve residents.
The project's development plan is based on the international award-winning concept pioneered by S P Setia Berhad, the Malaysian partner of Binh Duong's Becamex IDC Corp in the SetiaBecamex Joint-Stock Company.
EcoLakes My Phuoc is located in the centre of the 3,700-ha My Phuoc Industrial Park of Binh Duong Province and will require a total investment of around US$800 million.
Indochina Land opens 5-star resort on Con Dao
HCM CITY — Indochina Land, the property fund of Indochina Capital, yesterday opened Six Senses Con Dao, the first five-star resort on Con Dao Island in southern Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.
Covering 12ha, the US$34 million resort, located 45 minutes by air from HCM City, consists of 50 villas for sale. Buyers can choose to enter a resort rental programme.
The resort won the International Commercial Property Awards 2010 for Best International Small Hotel Construction and Design.
Ministry offers trade awards to 110 enterprises in 2010
HA NOI — The Ministry of Industry and Trade honoured 110 enterprises with the 2010 Top Trade Services Awards in a presentation ceremony at the Ha Noi Opera House last Sunday.
The awards recognised domestic and foreign-invested enterprises in the fields of information technology, distribution, education and training, environment, finance, healthcare services, tourism, culture, sport and transport. Selection criteria included business strategies and results, social contributions and quality of products and services.
Dairy giant Vinamilk ranked among Top-10 brands
HA NOI — Nielsen Viet Nam and the Singapore-based magazine Campaign have named Vietnamese dairy giant Vinamilk as one of its Top 10 brands for 2010, based on a survey conducted in November. The Top 10 was rounded out with Honda, BigC, Mobiphone, Vietcombank, Sai Gon Co.opMart, Viettel, Sony and Coca-Cola.
BIDV Securities to list shares in Ha Noi in second quarter of 2011
HA NOI — The first shareholders meeting of BIDV Securities Co (BSC) has approved a plan for the firm to list on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange in the second quarter of next year.
BSC, an affiliate of the State-owned Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam, made its initial public offering in November, fetching VND105.18 billion (US$4.9 million).
The company has projected earnings of VND440 billion ($20.78 million) and a net profit of VND30 billion ($1.41 million) this year, and it has targeted earnings of VND518 billion ($24.47 million) next year as well as a profit of VND97 billion ($4.58 million). It also expects next year to increase its charter capital from VND865 billion (US$40.86 million) to VND1.2 trillion ($56.68 million).
Paper, cement companies set ex-dates for cash dividends
HA NOI — Shareholders of Ha Noi-listed Hai Au Paper Co (GHA) have until next Monday to register to participate in the company's dividend payout representing two years of profits. On January 14, GHA will pay a 20-per-cent cash dividend on 2009 profits and a 10-per-cent cash dividend on preliminary 2010 profits.
Quang Ninh Construction and Cement Co (QNC) meanwhile has set this Friday as its dividend ex-date and next Tuesday as the deadline for shareholders to register for its planned 10-per-cent cash dividend on February 12.
Minh Phu Seafood Co to issue $33.3 million in bonds
HCM CITY – HCM City-listed Minh Phu Seafood Corp (MPC) plans to issue VND700 billion (US$33.3 million) worth of corporate bonds this month. The three-year term bonds will have a floating interest rate which will be adjusted every six months, normal for non-convertible corporate bonds unsecured by assets.
Sacombank Securities raises $14.3 billion from bond issue
HCM CITY — Sacombank Securities Co (SBS) has raised VND300 billion (US$14.3 million) from a corporate bond issue last week. The one-year bonds will mature on December 13, 2011.
The company has successfully raised VND1 trillion ($47.6 million) from bond issues during the September-November period.
SBS has increased its earnings target for this year from VND1.17 trillion ($55.7 million) to over VND1.36 trilion ($65 million) but ajdust its net profit targets down from VND360 billion ($17.1 million) to VND180 billion ($8.6 million).Source: vnagency.com.vn
