HCM CITY — Officials are preparing to welcome the 3,000,000th foreign visitor at HCM City's Tan Son Nhat International Airport on December 21 on Flight VN526 from Moscow.
The municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the ceremony would promote the city as a tourist destination, and attract tourists and overseas Vietnamese from Northern and Western Europe in the coming holidays.
The department has worked with the Department of Industry and Trade to organise a month of discounts starting from December 15 with entertainment parks, shopping centres, restaurants, hotels, travel agents and transport providers.
Web-based quality management offered
HCM CITY — VinaProjects yesterday introduced a web-based quality management system that can help real estate developers resolve problems and improve their performance.
The system would help deal with challenges like the complexity, speed and quality of projects, deliver good designs and ensure quality construction, company officials said.
Taiwan group enters non-life market
HCM CITY — Taiwan-based Cathay Financial Holding launched non-life insurance products in HCM City yesterday to add to its existing life insurance portfolio.
Cathay Insurance, which has a charter capital of VND300 billion (US$15.4 million), will focus on fire and accident insurance, property, transportation, vehicles and construction, he said.
It will initially focus on HCM City before expanding to all major cities, including Ha Noi, Hai Phong and Can Tho in the next five years.
Nghe An stops licensing projects
NGHE AN – The People's Committee of central Nghe An Province stopped accepting new submissions for investment in urban area projects in the province's Vinh City earlier this month.
The committee said that the city already had 90 urban area projects. Several of these were behind schedule while other investors had divided and sold land without building the necessary infrastructure.
Authorities inspect fertiliser businesses
HA NOI – Municipal authorities will look into the city's fertiliser market from December 16-31 in a move to stabilise prices.
