HCM CITY — The first travel credit card in Viet Nam, Premier Miles, was launched late last week in HCM City by Citibank Viet Nam.
Customers can earn 1 Premier Mile for every VND20,000 (US$0.95) they spend, including cash advances taken using the card, 1,000 bonus Premier Miles upon renewal and 5,000 bonus Premier Miles for spending over VND500 million ($24,000) in one year.
Premier Miles can be redeemed for free flight awards with 50 major airlines flying out of the country, including Vietnam Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Thai Airways and Delta Airlines to top destinations around the world.
Japanese firm joins minimart venture
HCM CITY — Japan's retailing company Ministop entered a partnership last Saturday with the local trading and service joint-stock company G7Mart to develop a system of convenience shops in Viet Nam.
Initial investment for the system of 500 shops nationwide by 2016 is US$10 million, according to Dang Le Nguyen Vu, chairman of G7Mart and its parent coffee firm Trung Nguyen.
Of the total amount, the Vietnamese partner will provide 75 per cent and the Japanese company, 25 per cent.
Japan opens auto parts R&D centre
HA NOI — Nissan Techno Viet Nam, an overseas arm of Japanese giant Nissan Group, is planning to expand its business in Viet Nam by opening a US$15 million research and development automobile components centre in Viet Nam.
The first phase of construction will start before the end of the year and the centre should go into operation by July 2011. The centre will also train Vietnamese engineers.Source: vnagency.com.vn
